ABOUT SERIES 1 SERIES 2 SERIES 3 BACK

Lieselot started Around the world in 72 songs as a music video project during the COVID-19 pandemic confinement. The intention was to offer online an autonomous and fully-fledged artistic project to the widest possible audience. The title of the project reflects the intent: an imaginary journey around the world in which 72 songs are performed from 72 different countries or cultures in 72 videos or episodes.

The common thread throughout the project is a barrel organ, with which Lieselot accompanies herself. The repertoire is broad and ranges from world music over chanson to classical music and the early music repertoire. With the project, Lieselot particularly wants to shine a light on female singers, composers and songwriters who are less or not well known.

The project is inspired by Nellie Bly who in 1889/90 was the first record holder in racing around the world, which she did in 72 days.

The project was made with the support of the Flemish Government (episode 1, 2 and 3) and Stad Gent (episode 3)
